“… as long as my website is number one on Google….”

People often misunderstand what to expect when they get a professional web design company to build their website. How a website performs on the World Wide Web is influenced by so many different factors, including the way it is built, the content, the functionality, internal and external links etc etc. Then when your customers find your site, it has to deliver what they need (see ECRM). Remember one main thing when deciding on your website specification – what do you want it to do? If it has to sell your products or services, it must do well in a random search, based on keywords or keyphrases and not on your company name. This requires time and effort (and therefore money), but the results should be worth it.

Time, effort and money? Well, how much…?
Your website is like another branch of your business. The better the job you do of setting it up, the better the results should be. If you were to open a new office, factory or shop, you wouldn’t leave it to the builders and shop fitters without being there to make sure everything happens as you want it to. When your new branch is open, would you leave it to an under manager to run and never go there? The best websites actively engage the company’s clients and to do this effectively requires the experience and knowledge of the people that run the company.

Look at it another way – if your website is successful and receives lots of visits you’d be interested then, wouldn’t you? You’d have to be; your website is a reflection of your company and thousands of people may be seeing a website that isn’t representative. When your website is found – by whatever means – your company has the opportunity to communicate with your customers, so make sure your site offers every opportunity to do this. Yellow Truck is developing its Electronic Customer Relations Management (ECRM) strategies to improve the ability of our clients’ websites to do this.
